Blades Brown: Teen Phenom Nears PGA Tour

While much of the golf world is focused on the financial collapse of LIV Golf, the most compelling story this week may belong to 19-year-old Blades Brown. The Nashville native is on the verge of making history by becoming the youngest player to earn a PGA Tour card through the Korn Ferry Tour, and he has a chance to lock it up in his hometown.

This week, Brown is competing in the Simmons Bank Open in Franklin, Tennessee. Currently 10th on the Korn Ferry Tour points list, he needs to remain in the Top 20 through the final four events to secure his PGA Tour card for the 2027 season. "A good week this week would lock us up," Brown stated, acknowledging the high stakes of playing in his own backyard.

Brown's path has been unconventional. He turned professional directly out of Brentwood Academy, skipping the traditional college route—a bold move that is quickly paying off. "Trying to finish Top 20 on the Korn Ferry Tour seemed to be the most reasonable strategy to get to the PGA Tour for 2027," he explained. His talent is undeniable; this season alone, he has already earned over $1 million and special temporary PGA Tour membership after securing six top-20 finishes in 10 starts. The hometown narrative adds a unique comfort, as Brown noted, "It's a rare occasion... You can stay in your own bed and play a professional golf tournament the same week."
