Tiger's Second Empire on Long Island

Tiger Woods is building a new dimension to his legacy, shifting from legendary player to influential architect with his latest project on Long Island's prestigious 'Gold Coast.' His firm, TGR Design, has partnered with private golf company Armchair Collective to revitalize the historic site of the former Tam O'Shanter country club in Brookville.

The project aims to merge history with modern design. Brookville Mayor Dan Serota praised the venture, stating it combines "the Gold Coast's longstanding golf tradition with Tiger and his team's skill and attention to detail." This collaboration is a strategic business move by the Armchair Collective, which acquired the property in September 2026 to expand its national network of exclusive, architecturally distinct private courses. The plan is to transform the 148-acre site into a luxury club complete with member cottages and state-of-the-art practice facilities.

This Long Island course will join TGR Design's growing and impressive portfolio. The firm has already established a reputation for creating courses that are both playable for amateurs and challenging for professionals, with designs like Bluejack National in Texas and Payne's Valley in Missouri. The credibility of Woods' architectural work was further cemented when El Cardonal in Mexico became the first TGR Design course to host a PGA Tour event, showcasing his design philosophy on golf's biggest stage. This new venture solidifies Woods' second empire in golf, built not with a club in hand, but with a blueprint for the future.
